My name is Brent Wilson and I am a lifelong and 5th generation resident of Wise County, Precinct 3. I was raised in Boyd by my parents, Thomas Lee and Margaret Wilson.
My wife Amber and I have been married eight years. We reside in Boyd were I am currently Mayor for the City of Boyd.
So far, we have four wonderful children together, Lane, age 7, Cole age 5, and twins, Andi and Rudy age 2.
We are members of First Baptist Church of Boyd. Our children participate in the Boyd Youth Association sports. We actively support the BYA and we greatly appreciate everyone who volunteers time and resources each year to help the BYA.
We own and operate Southwest Hay Exchange, a business I began 22 years ago. We buy, sell and distribute hay primarily across the southern region of the United States. Our business model is a simple one, learned from my father: Honesty and respect. Be honest with everyone you encounter and respect those who work for you. These strong principles have helped our business to be a success, while also allowing us to spend valuable time together as a family. It has further afforded me time to give back to our community.
Since October of 2004, I have faithfully served the city of Boyd in my capacity as Mayor. Prior to that I was city councilman for two and one half years. I am very grateful to serve the fine city of Boyd, and believe my experiences while serving in these capacities have allowed for personal growth.
Additionally, I served three terms (6 years) on the Wise County Appraisal District board of directors, the last 4 years as chairman of the board. Again, the knowledge and experience reaped from serving in this capacity has been invaluable.
I am excited to have been involved in local government during the past decade. During this time, our area has experienced a great deal of growth and change. Development and annexation have increased the physical size and financial resources of Boyd. This has enabled us to improve the services we offer as well as support the building of infrastructure to meet the growing needs of our citizens.
I was especially pleased to have been involved with and assist the Boyd ISD in negotiations to purchase 155 acres for our new campus. This will greatly help to meet the needs of Boyd ISD for years to come.
I am asking for your support in the March 2nd Republican primary. I would like the opportunity to serve the wonderful citizens of Wise County Pct 3 as commissioner. My focus will be to help improve the quality of life for the families in Pct 3, while continuing to build and improve our infrastructure. As commissioner, your input and feedback will be very important to me. I look forward to meeting the challenges that lay ahead. Thank you for your support.
